Little Finn {baby portraits}

This is my very 1st baby portrait session and I think it turned out better than I expected! I was thrilled to get this opportunity. Life is an amazing gift and not to mention a complete miracle!

Finn is now 6 weeks old and is quite the sleeper, but not this day, he was awake for most of the time we were there and so that limited the amount of sleeping baby photos that are so precious! But we did manage to sang a few. I'm very excited to introduce to you all Finn!

The Weinlands {Family Portraits}

What an extraordinary family The Weinlands are. With God as the center of this family it's evident that God shines his light and blessing on those who honor Him. What a blessing it is to know this family and to see the little ones grow up. I had a BLAST shooting this family in November and I wanted to get some more of the session up on the blog. Also, I just took some newborn photos of Finn and those will be up shortly as well.

Christmas Cookie Decorating + BC {Personal}

Tis' the season! This season is by far the best part of the year! I love the gatherings and the reason behind the season. It's a great time of the year to reflect and learn from this past year and think about the future. Tonight was our youth groups Christmas party at church and we had a cookie decorating contest and I took it way to seriously.... I got a little carried away and spent probably an hour working on mine.

Below are some images of my masterpiece, enjoy.

Also, I have been dreaming a little while about the direction of my photography and what it looks like for me in 2011. I am just excited about what the future holds. I know I have a lot of years ahead of me and I'm so blessed and thankful for this time I have to grow and learn and do what I love!

Joel & Dani {Engagement}

This bright young couple are engaged to be married! These are two of my very good friends from the Honor Academy and I'm thrilled to show you some photos from our "mini" engagement session we did today!

These two were made for each-other. They really are two peas in a pod. Such amazing Godly couple and I'm so excited to see what the Lords going to do in their lives. It's going to be incredible!

Here's a look into the day before today, as the day that Joel popped the question.

These photos were taken on the journey that Joel set Dani out on the morning of November 27th.

Floating on this here pond is a box on some foam. And in that box, the ring.

Joel planted horses on their "walk" so they took the horses and Joel then brought Dani to a nice picnic where they ate lunch together.

They then got back on the horses to finish their ride. And this is where Joel lead Dani to a big "present" in the path they were on. In the "present" (box the size of a refrigerator) Inside was another box with a fishing pole and the line had gone threw the box and was attached to the floating foam present in the middle of the pond. This is then where Joel pops the question.

There they are! Arn't the cute!!!

Gobble Gobble {Happy Thanksgiving}

This is my first Thanksgiving as a Harvey ;-) I enjoyed spending the holiday with my new family! I did miss home and my family back in WA a lot too.

Here is a photo collection of our Thanksgiving. Just a taste of how we Harvey's rock it.

I've been so blessed to be apart of this amazing family what a joy they all have been in my life thus far. Derek and I are so blessed by the Church were involved with and the family that surround us. God's blessed us and it's not by our own doing or actions but by his grace. It's amazing and this holiday season is a good reminder to be thankful for what we have. Not just on thanksgiving. But always. Be thankful and grateful for the blessings and for the things we take for granted.

New Growth {Real+Authentic}

I've been a little on a "non" creative kick for a while and I believe that I'm almost out of the dry season and about to enter into a season of great fruit and joy. Whether that's in buissness or just my own personal growth. I'm ready. I'm entering a new season of life today. God is challenging me and revealing so many wonderful things to me in his word. It speaks so loud but only to those who want and desire to hear it. Not sure what your past is or walk of life you come from but I, I will tell you that the life lived with Jesus is unlike any other. I know this from personal experience. He desires a relationship with us so deeply, and if we only took the time to listen and respond to Him we would know it and truly "believe". We call our self's believers but half of us don't truly believe. We have not truly encountered the living breathing almighty God that is at work on this earth, the ultimate creator of all living things desires our hearts. woah. With learning about how much He truly desires our hearts I've also been learning to enjoy the little things in life...

... thunderstorms, clouds, rain, laughter, candles, glitter, paint, trees, wind, twitter ;-/, chocolate, earrings, water, sugar, salt, light, fire, blue sky, paper, shoes, silence, photographs...

... my list could go on and on but I'll stop at photographs for now.

I'm learning to appreciate these things because we are so blessed. We have been given so much and yet we always want... more.. we are always dissatisfied with what we have because they come out with a new model right after I buy the product and there's always something new.

Photos are a memory for some of us our mom's have TONS of them from birth-present. Most of them are snapshots of time for our mothers to hold onto as we grow up and become who we are meant to be. Other times it's to remember important days of our lives such as weddings, newborns, family, children and love stories. These moments all deserve to be remembered and what better way to remember them. To remember the look your husband gives you as you walk down the aisle, or 10 years after marriage and you look back on your engagement photos and remember that love you felt for one another because photos come to life in our minds as we remember that time again. When you baby grows up and is no longer a baby, you have photos to look back and see there cute bottoms or feet and little fingers. To witness one of God's wonderful blessings to life.

As a photographer I want to be able to capture not only a photo but life's precious moments for you to cherish and have forever. Not just a photo but a piece of art for your wall at home. Photos that for years to come you can still smell the flowers or feel the wind that day. I strive for real and authentic in every shoot I do. I desire for my clients to experience real and authentic when they look back on their photos and see not just, "cheese" click. Done. But feel movement and life in that moment in time.

You may think I'm being cheesy ;-) but I truly desire this type of photography for everyone. It's called these days, Lifestyle Photography and that's what I want to bring to you.

Thanks for reading what's been going on in my heart and my passion for photography. And what's a post without photos? So here you have it. Here's a collection of photos I've taken on my iPhone 4 with the camera+ app. over the last several months.

I hope you enjoy and will too start to appreciate the small things in life!

My Big Brother

This is my brother Eric! He lives in NYC and works for Delta Airlines. He had some vacation time and used some of it to come see Derek and I! How awesome! Louis [frenchmen]

Ten years ago Louis came to America for the 1st time and he's been back every year. My brother speaks french fluently and met Louis through his high school foreign exchange program in 2000. Louis has been apart of our family and us his. We have traveled to France and have been able to get know his wonderful family.

Northwest {Summer Sizzle}

I sure do miss the northwest this time of year. Houston is hot & humid. BUT I'm grateful for the season I'm in right now. I know that Derek and I are where we are suppose to be at this time. We are so grateful for all the amazing people that surround us on a daily basis.

I enjoyed my visit home to see family and friends. Got to hang out with my dad a little bit and our awesome friend from FRANCE. I have photos I'll post later. And hung out with my mom, it was so good to see her and spend some quality time with her.

My best friend Ashley got married this Saturday. It was sizzlin'! Such an amazing wedding. Below is a photo taken after the bride and groom's rehearsal picnic! It was a splendid event that day and enjoyed the fellowship and great BBQ!

Jonathan & Ashley Post

Their going to New Zealand for a year! How awesome is that. Their taking the scriptures literal when it says, leave and cleave. Praise God!

Anyway, here is Jonathan's sister Cynthia Post. She lives in Chicago and works at a vegan restaurant. She loves photography and performing arts! We got a long great! Here is a shot of her wearing Ashley's bridesmaid's gift. An exquisite necklace made specially for Cynthia and earrings to match. Ashley made each bridesmaid their very own unique piece. I wish I photographed all of them but here is one that is amazing!

Next up, My dearest friend since high school.

Jessie Anne Fouts. So refreshing to see her. Had this spontaneous photo-shoot outside my dad's house in Tacoma before we went to Ashley's bachelorette party!

FACT: She bought this car for $200 and doesn't she look perdy with it?!

Well, new things are cooking and some very exciting things are going to happen. I hope when all the details pan out I'll let you know! ;-)

Also, Derek and I started a blog together. Derek is an amazing writer and this opens up a great opportunity and outlet for creativity, for the both of us. So enjoy!

LIVE.LOVE.LAUGH

I'm so thankful for all of my supporters for watching and voting for me! I found out yesterday that I didn't win. It took me some time to get over it and realize that it wasn't the end of the world ;-) I truly believe that there are more opportunities out there for me.I'm just so thankful that my amazing and very talented husband and I had so much fun creating such a rad creative video! We must make another one... but about what? Any ideas?

Well, as for now I'm reading up on some photographers blogs and getting inspired for what the future holds!

What a cool season right now. I'm still on the high of just getting married...enjoying life and thanking God for my every moment. He truly loves us and cares for us.

This Sunday I had my 2 sisters over for "girls night" .. Ice cream... movie... relax time! Then I took them back home the following day. Here is a portrait of one of my sister-in-law; Syndareria. She truly is a beautiful girl, inside and out. I'm amazed at what a sweet girl she is and I see so much inside of her that she doesn't yet see in herself. She's a gift from God and I pray she knows that everyday.

Derek's family has been in foster care for a long time. They opened up their home to so many kids that have been left abandoned and rejected. I've been so inspired ever since Dave Hasz (the director) at the Honor Academy once spoke about his foster care experiences. To later find out about Derek's family and there heart to help these kids was simply beautiful. It brings me joy to see the kids happy and loved and to show them that they are worth spending time with and that they have value is something dear to my heart.

Derek's parents just adopted a 3 year old little boy who was left in a hotel room for several days with his 2 older sisters. He has changed so many of our lives. He is truly a blessing. Love that kid.

Totally Rad Actions:

Thanks to Totally Rad Actions I was able to enter my video into a very unique opportunity to win a seat in a SOLD out photography workshop with Chris & Sarah Rhoads.

I thought I'd show you all a little bit of what Totally Rad Actions is and what it can do to your images.

I don't believe that these actions are to fix your bad/oops shots and make them fabulous. Which they can sure fix some things. {Afternoon in the .:SUN:.}

I took these photos a month or so ago and have been wanting to post them.

Derek and I wanted to be spontaneous and do something fun. So we ventured out into the Woodlands, TX...where you can't find anything unless you just go explore. Living in Texas, especially right now, isn't the most enjoyable experience outdoors. I mean, you can make it what you want it to be, so make it fun! Well, we sure do try. The heat sometimes gets the best of us.

I'm starting to really be excited about where my photography is going. Inspiration. At last!

Joel&Dani .:True Love:.

These are two of our good friends. We had the great privilege of going to Teen Mania's Honor Academy, where I was able to meet my wonderful husband and many other lifelong friends...including a couple I'm featuring on my blog today.

Dani & Joel have come to visit for the 4th of July weekend and we have had a blast! We went to see a movie on Market Street and then we took a stroll and took some photos. Derek was of course much help. (after playing with his new iphone 4) He helped me by handing me my bag with my lenses and helping me change them out when I needed. Hopefully someday I'll purchase a Shootsac by Jessica Claire, an amazing photographer that I admire.

Dani is so beautiful, inside and out. This woman is an amazing person and I've been so blessed to get to know her more. She is also a very talented singer and literally makes my heart melt when she sings. She sounds like an angel from heaven.

These two people were made for each other. It's so refreshing to see best friends fall in love and make the best team!

This is my brother-in-law Travis! He such an awesome guy! He loves the Lord with all his heart and plans to go to the Honor Academy in August. To pursue after God even more! How awesome is that!

This shoot was spontaneous as Derek and I were only in town for Derek's college graduation. I figured I'd take Travis out for his well over due senior photo shoot. And it was awesome! Travis is not camera shy. I barely had to tell him what to do, what a natural!

Travis graduated yesterday! He made his family so proud. I can't wait to see what God's going to do in Travis's life! Well, here are a few of the "best shots" form travis senior shoot!

Hey Everyone! I'm now a Harvey! I got married to the man of my dreams on March 20th 2010. It was amazing. My wedding photographers Maggie Hendrix and Cheryl Weaver were amazing and can't wait to see more photos! Click on their names to see websites!

It was a beautiful day with family and friends. I'm so excited that my life doesn't just revolve around planning a wedding, were able to just enjoy life together and it's all very exciting.

Our dear friends pitched in to buy Derek and I a camera for a wedding present. The one we really wanted was a lot of money so what the did was got us the step below! We were shocked and so excited!!!!!!!!!!!! What a surprise, it was really neat to see everyone pitch in to help. Derek and I later after returning from our honeymoon took it back and upgraded to the Canon 7d! THANKS EVERYONE WHO MADE IT POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!! YOU ROCK OUR FACES OFF!!!!!

Nathan, Tiffani & Kason Cole!

If anyone knows God's love, it's THIS family. They are the sweetest and kindest family in Commerce! They took me in when I didn't have a place to live and have been such a blessing. Things have been crazy in these last few months. Now an old chapter has been finished, and a new one has begun.

Nathan, Tiffani and their son Kason are full-time missionaries for campus ministry. They are working with an organization called Chi Alpha and have a HUGE heart to see Texas A&M University-Commerce come to see Jesus and know HIM...Praying for the campus to be known world-wide for the cause of Christ! They have a calling and are walking towards it. I know it hasn't been an easy year for them but they are SOOO blessed, sooo unbelievably anointed and are going to have a very exciting 2010! Here are their family portraits I was able to sneak in before life was flipped upside down for the holidays/planning a wedding/moving jobs/moving to a NEW place, with no place to live yet!

This was a very fun shoot, It was next door to my fiance's parents house, and I asked if we could take photos in their back yard. What I didn't know is that they had dogs, so in some of the photos there are some "random" dogs. ;-) But it was helpful to get Kason to smile... that kid is something else. ;-)

Yesterday was a beautiful day to have a wedding. I was so privileged to get to capture this special day for Jonathan and Rachel. It has been 6 long years that this young couple have been together and it was an honor to see these two exchange their vows in front of family and friends, knowing that they both love the Lord and know that he needs to be their foundation in their marriage for it to last. What a beautiful thing! Praise the Lord! More photos to come, but for now here is just a taste!

Hello Everyone, have not blogged anything in a month! Crazy how time fly's. I've been beginning the planning process for my own wedding. Were getting married March 20th 2010 and is coming up fast! But here are some photos I've been so anxious to show! Enjoy!!!!

Below is a photo of when I first moved to Texas in January. He has sure gotten his own little personality. It's neat to see such a beautiful family that love the Lord and serve Him. I can't wait to do there family photos! Hopefully will do that before it get's to cold out. It's still int he mid 60's here in Texas. ;-)

So cute!

Here are some photos of little Kason and his maimes. Kason was not in the mood to sit and look cute for the camera, not for a second. I think I got some neat shots of them playing. This day was beautiful and was so glad I was able to take some photos for Tiffani of her baby and her mama. I've been living with Nathan and Tiffani for almost a year now and I have seen this baby Grow.

Isn't this sweet? Awww ;-)

This photo came with some consequences. Maimes had laid on a ant hill and was attacked by red fire ants and was hurting for days. ;-( Bless her heart.. suffering for her sweet grandson.

Here are my top 10 photos from Rachels shoot! I had so much fun on this shoot, and took so many wonderful photos that it was hard to pick, as it always is ;-) ENJOY!

I love this one with the boots. Funny story actually... Rachel doesn't actually own

cowboy boots but wanted to wear some with her dress...... So, during our shoot her mom went out and found a bonafide Texan to let
us borrow his boots for a few photos!

How cool is that!

I'm officially engaged to be married to the man of my dreams!!!! It was the perfect proposal! It was at our favorite artist, Jimmy Needham's concert at Teen Mania's Honor Academy Alumni Weekend. It couldn't have been more perfect. It was during the last song of the set, and it was all planned. Jimmy Needham introduced Derek in the middle of the song Firefly and once he got up there, I honestly had no idea what he was doing, until he said, "I met my beautiful girlfriend here, Tessa Cockhill, can we have her come up here?!" Then I KNEW he was going to propose!!!!!!!!!! This is it!!!!! oMG.... HERE?!?! WOAH!! I was totally caught off guard. We got it on video! And I can't wait to show you all!

All of this happened while I'm recuperating from the flu. I wasn't about to miss Jimmy Needham's concert, (Derek said he wasn't going to go without me) So, I had to go! BUT I didn't know I was going to get proposed to!!!!! wow.

Nathan & Patricia's Wedding TOP 10

So, I had an amazing time in Florida this last weekend. It was amazing to see friends and to be apart of Nate and Patties big day. This was my 1st beach wedding and I feel it went great! I was supper excited to get some shots on the beach, as they always look so dreamy!

I was so pleased with how the photos came out that I've been working long and hard to get some of my favorites out for your enjoyment! I have edited so many today but I'm only going to show you my TOP 10. I will tell you that having to pick threw photos is my least favorite part, because I love so many! And time does not allow me to edit every single photo I like.

I want to give a special thanks Maggie Hendrix for taking the time to teach me what you know and to my beautiful models Evelyn and Leah. I will have you know that they are sisters! Today was my very first photography workshop! Maggie Hendrix is an amazing fine art photographer that lives in Arkansas and I have the privilege to get to know her and pick her brain this weekend. I have learned so much and just can't wait to shoot more photos!!!

Its officially spring time here in East Texas and hopefully now I'll now get more of the divine beauty of God's creation. With work and classes it gets really busy. That sometimes limits me in time to be creative, outside of my office.

This one above happens to be my favorite. I love putting two photos together, that make it continue on but not quite match.

Aww, shallow depth of field. I love using this technique to really point the audience where I want them to focus there attention.

Please share with me your thoughts and comments on what you see. I'd love to hear some input on how I can do it better next time around, or to hear what you do like. Even in terms of how I edit them on my computer or how I shoot from the beginning.

Hello Everyone!

My name is Tessa Cockhill and I'm just wanting to start showing my work and getting feedback. I would like to receive constructive criticism on my work so I may improve. Also, tips to make my photos look better would also be great! I want to get as much feedback as possible so I can better prepare myself every time I go shoot.

A little background, I started shooting film at the end of my sophomore year and all my junior year in High School and then my senior year I started shooting digital and as much as I loved the dark room and printing my own prints, the computer as a dark room just blew me away of how much you can do with photos, and how much time you save. I'm now living in Garden Valley, TX as an intern at a ministry. I'm currently working in the Center for Creative Media doing graphic design and also some photography when needed. I feel so blessed to be here doing what I love to do. This is all possible only by the grace of God, because It's not because of me that I'm where I am.
